Baylor Scott & White Surgicare – Waxahachie facility, recently opened for outpatient surgery and aims to treat every patient like family.
“From the second the patient walks in the door, we greet them warmly,” Madison Crowe, administrator for the facility, said. “We sit them down and have a very personable registration process that allows them to ask any questions (and) to ease any fears or anxieties they may have because surgery can be scary. We work with a patient, from the business office staff to our clinical staff, to try to give them the resources and tools they need to prevent some of those fears.
“Once they go through the registration process, they go into their preop, and they meet with their nurses,” she said. “They get to meet with their doctors before the procedure. We allow them to be as active of a participant in their care as they should be. We want them to be as relaxed as possible before they go into a procedure.”
Located at 1434 W. U.S. Highway 287 Bypass, Suite 100, the building previously housed Texas Health Surgery Center before Baylor Scott & White acquired it Jan. 1, 2023.
“With that came a lot of new physicians, new surgical lines, new equipment and a bigger patient population,” Crowe said. “We’re really excited about being part of the Baylor network with our close affiliation with Baylor Scott & White hospital in Waxahachie. It allows us to work collaboratively with the community and the environment and help provide patients the best possible experience.”
The facility has three operating rooms and two procedure rooms and focuses on a wide variety of specialties, including colon and rectal surgery (colonoscopy), gastroenterology (endoscopy), general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), pain management, podiatry and urology.
“The wide range of services we provide allows us to meet any needs of any patient population,” Crowe said. “Having the ability for patients to be seen in an outpatient setting versus having to go to the hospital allows for a lot of patient convenience. There’s (the) ease and simplicity of getting to the site, parking, bringing your family in with you in a smaller setting. We can get patients in and out in a rather quick timeline.”
A few of the new procedures being offered are gastric sleeves, surgeries for the ear, nose and throat, and pain procedures like pain injections. Along with the new service lines, the facility has new equipment, which is “state of the art, top technology,” Crowe said.
Two 23-hour stay rooms are available for hysterectomy patients, total joint replacement patients or other patients, allowing them to stay in “a more relaxed and comfortable environment,” Crowe said.
The facility has 18 physician partners who have an invested financial interest, which allows them to be active participants in the financial process.
“I think (that) just provides an extra level of commitment to providing the highest quality patient care,” Crowe said. “They care about the staff members, they care about the facility itself, and they care, most importantly, about their patients.”
