The Waxahachie Farmers Market is extending its season into November and December. The extension will come with a change in the hours of operation, with the market running from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. It will be held in the same location at 701 Howard Road.
The extension is the result of several vendors working together and asking if it is possible.
Ellis County agriculture producer John Paul Dineen III said the market will be condensed, but most vendors will be participating. Dineen will be there with his family and their business, The Yellow Farmhouse, selling beef, pork, milk, chicken and eggs. “It is a great way to support your local producers,” Dineen said. “We work really hard to be there each week to provide good products for you, and it means a whole lot to us when you come out and you shop and support our family.”
The regular season ended Oct. 22, and the market will be closed Oct. 29 for the Texas Country Reporter Festival. The extended season begins Nov. 5 and will run throughout the months of November and December.
According to director of downtown development Anita Simpson, applications for new vendors will not be accepted during the extended season. The extension is only available for regular season vendors who participated all year.
