Have you ever wanted to run your own haunted restaurant? Here’s your chance.
The infamous haunted Catfish Plantation house located on 814 Water St., which has been home to both delicious food and ghosts, is on the market.
Realtor Justin Clark from Mote & Associates has taken on the challenge of selling the restaurant property, along with the ghosts that reside in it.
“I’ve never sold a haunted property,” Clark said. “I don’t think it will be difficult to sell though because it is a very unique property, has a rich history and is a great looking building.”
Clark said he grew up in Waxahachie and remembers eating at Catfish Plantation with his family. Clark kept a watchful eye every time he ate there but never witnessed a ghost interaction. While he never had an interaction with the three ghosts, Clark said the Landis family, owners of the restaurant, have had many experiences with them.
According to documents provided to Clark, there are three ghosts that haunt the property.
Caroline, the first ghost, lived in the house with her husband and her family in the 1900s. She is known to throw wine glasses across the room because of her disapproval of alcohol.
Elizabeth, the second ghost, died on her wedding day after being strangled by either an ex-boyfriend or an old girlfriend of her fiancé.
Will, the third ghost, is quieter and tends to be seen on the porch of the house. He was a farmer who lived in the house during the Depression.
Clark said the Landis family has left the property in great condition, and it is ready to welcome a new restaurant into its walls.
“It’s really turnkey, ready to go, for a restaurant,” Clark said. “It has a commercial kitchen, and they’re including just about everything you need to get a restaurant going, even including utensils and POS (point-of-sale) systems.”
