Chick-fil-A to rework drive-through configuration

The Waxahachie Planning and Zoning Commission members unanimously voted Tuesday, Aug. 9, to approve a new drive-through plan for Chick-fil-A that looks to expand and improve the drive-through experience.

Currently, the two-lane drive-through is located directly on the east side of the building, itself located at 996 W. U.S. Highway 287 Bypass.

The new plan will move the drive-thru lanes to the perimeter of the property, wrapping them around the parking lot and the building to allow a better flow of traffic during peak operating times. Each drive-thru lane will hold 20 to 22 stacking spaces, while the parking lot will hold 60 parking spaces. Thirty-one parking spaces are eliminated to accommodate the new drive-through configuration, according to documentation provided to the P&Z. The property was platted in its current configuration in 2003, with a special use permit for a restaurant with drive-through approved in 2016. The amount of change involved with the new drive-through configuration necessitated the approval of another specific use permit.

The matter will now be presented at an upcoming city council meeting. Originally published August 10, 2022 - https://www.waxahachiesun.com/business/chick-fil-a-to-rework-drive-through-configuration/article_32bbafe6-18ce-11ed-a384-1f22b90028fb.html
