Citizen member added to the Animal Care Advisory Committee

During its Oct. 3 meeting, Waxahachie City Council unanimously approved the addition of a citizen member to the Animal Care Advisory Committee and appointed Cherie Batsel to fill the position.

Police Chief Joe Wiser asked the council make an amendment to the current ordinance to add a citizen member to the board. The board had four members, which included a licensed veterinarian, a county or municipal official, a representative from an animal welfare organization and a daily operator of an animal shelter.

Batsel is an assistant county and district attorney for Ellis County. She expressed her desire to be on this committee at a previous council meeting on Sept. 6.
