During its Jan. 17 meeting, the Waxahachie City Council unanimously approved a specific use permit that would bring a second Chick-fil-A to Waxahachie, located at 3380 S. Interstate 35E, near Farm-to-Market 66.

“We have a heart of gratitude,” said Phil Browne, the location’s operator, who also operates the Chick-fil-A off of U.S. Highway 287 Bypass. “We are so thankful for the fact that the city has been so receptive. I just look at it as a great opportunity to have a very positive influence on our community, raising up great leaders, great servant-hearted individuals who will add impact in our local town long after we’re not in seats of power anymore.”

The new Chick-fil-A will have a 5,500 square-foot restaurant, 56 parking spaces and two stacking drive-through lanes that hold 25 spaces. The exterior design will be a completely brick veneer with two colors: light gray (primary color) and white (accent color). A part of the specific use permit was a request for a 75-foot-pole sign, which is the same height as the nearby McDonald’s.

The restaurant is anticipated to have 60 employees and will operate from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
