During its Dec. 19 meeting, the Waxahachie City Council unanimously approved a specific use permit for tavern use for Texas Art & Pour, to be located at 109 W. Franklin St. in downtown Waxahachie.

Texas Art & Pour plans to bring “a distinctive shopping experience for Texas-made art and goods,” according to its application.

“I’m gonna open the best place you’ve ever been to,” owner Dani Cagle had said during the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission’s Dec. 13 meeting. “We’re going to bring in Texas artists from all over the state in all kinds of different mediums and price points. We will be preparing and assembling some food, but it’s going to be all from Texas, like Texas cheese, Texas meat, Texas jams, Texas breads, Texas sweets.”

Along with art products and food made in Texas, Cagle said they plan to offer Texas craft beer and Texas wine. “Our goal is to bring the craft beer here,” Cagle said. “We want to go to those smaller breweries (in Texas), see who distributes for them and expose people to something different. It will be something you can’t get at H-E-B or Walmart.”

The space is about 1,700 square feet on the first floor, and a tap and bar are proposed to be added.

City staff explained the proposed SUP will not be transferred to new property owners in the future. Originally published December 20, 2022 - https://www.waxahachiesun.com/business/council-approves-permit-for-texas-art-pour/article_286290f2-8636-11ed-b829-87de8b72d913.html
