County approves contract with Motorola Solutions Inc.

The Ellis County Commissioners Court unanimously approved County Judge Todd Little to sign a contract with Motorola Solutions Inc. during its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 23.


The contract with Motorola Solutions will bring a new software system for a computer-aided dispatch, record management and jail management system tto the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. With the court’s approval, legal can move forward with negotiating a contract with Motorola for a total amount of about $4.2 million to be paid over 10 years. The first initial payment will be negotiated and not be less than $1.5 million.


“I think this is the right direction for us, and more importantly, I think it’s the right direction for the people coming behind me, the people that are 10 years from being in my seat. It’s the right decision for them,” Chief Deputy Alex Zurfas said.


Zurfas went on to express how the new system will bring efficiencies and technology that will be “a huge upgrade.”


“Anything worth having is worth working for, and that’s what we’ve been through the last couple of weeks,” Little said.
