Elected officials proposed salaries approved for Ellis County

The Ellis County Commissioners Court unanimously approved proposed salaries for elected officials during fiscal year 2023 during its meeting Sept. 6.

County Judge Todd Little explained to commissioners that Ellis County’s current salaries were compared to five counties that are “adjacent or have similar size in population to Ellis County.” A 6% cost of living adjustment was made to the current salaries, with a few positions raised to match the average of other counties as well.

Official notices of the salaries were given the following day to elected officials, who have a five-day grievance period to file if they do not agree with the salary. If needed, a grievance committee will meet Sept. 15 and 16 for a salary grievance hearing.
